Aloha

4/10/13 - We left for Hawaii at around 11pm on Wednesday night.  We decided to take the red eye so that Ane would sleep through the entire flight but after experiencing a red eye with a toddler, I will never do it again until Ane is old enough to understand that she needs to go to sleep.  The flight wasn't bad and Ane did get some sleep but because she was on my lap the entire time I couldn't get any sleep and I was so uncomfortable the entire 6 hour flight.  I just kept telling myself "As long as Ane is okay, you're okay."  I was also thankful that she was asleep the entire time because I don't know what I would have done if she was wide awake.  We made it safely and that was what matters most after all.

4/11/13 - We went to get breakfast as soon as we arrived but it was only 5am so nothing was open just yet.  We went to one of the marinas and watched the sun come up and Ane got to see some ducks.  Below is a picture of the sunrise... It was absolutely beautiful as you can see.
After eating breakfast at Koa's Pancakes, we went to Sage's uncle Shaun's house which is where we stayed our entire trip.  His house was amazing and I'm so thankful for his hospitality and for him allowing our family to stay there.  His house had a pool and a dock right on the river where Ane loved feeding the fish.

After settling in, we went to the church to set up for Sage's papa's funeral.  His passing was the reason we were in Hawaii and we wanted to help as much as possible.

We later went to Lanikai beach and Ane hated the water.  She preferred to sit in the shade in the sand and play with her toys.  She's such a little city girl lol.  She doesn't enjoy nature very much but I don't blame her, the ocean can be a scary thing, especially for someone so small.  Here's our little family soaking up the sun.  Isn't Ane adorable?  She's getting so tall and gets more and more beautiful as each passes by.

4/12/13 - Sage's papa's funeral service was around 10am that morning.  Sage's family is Catholic and the service was held at a beautiful church.  I'm LDS and had never been in a Catholic church so it was a fun and interesting experience.  I didn't get to stay for the entire service because Ane PEED on me during the service and I had to carry her out really fast because there was a huge puddle of pee on the both of us... mostly me though.  I was so embarrassed while walking out, it looked like I had the accident and people were looking at me funny.  When I finally got out of the church a guy approached me and asked if I needed to be shown where the restroom was.  I'm positive that he thought I had wet myself, ugh.  I took Ane across the street where no one could see us and we just sat on the grass.  Her dress was completely dry but my skirt was soaked.  Thank goodness for the wind that morning, my dress was dry by the time the service ended.  The food after the service was soooo delicious.  It was REAL Hawaiian food- poi, pig, mac salad, and a number of other things that I had no idea what they were called but it was soooo yummy.  I wish I had a plate of that food in front of me right now.  It's a good thing we don't live in the Hawaii because I would be a food addict and I would gain so much weight.  It's not funny how much weight I gained in just 9 days, oh well, YOLO ;)

Sage's papa had requested to have his body cremated and to have his ashes spread in the mountains during a hunt.  He was a boar hunter all of his life and he spent many days in the mountains hunting so that was the perfect resting place for him.  He also mentioned that if he were to be buried that he would like to be buried at the cemetery facing the ranch that his family once owned.  Sage's family decided to accommodate both requests and they buried a portion of his ashes as well.  The burial service was the only time I became emotional.  They had placed the ashes in the ground and asked for family to place flowers in the ground and say their final goodbyes.  I gave Ane a rose and had her place the rose in the ground.  It hit me then that Ane wasn't able to meet her papa but hopefully, we will see him again one day.

That night all of Sage's family came over to his uncle's house and we had dinner together.  It was so nice to meet my husband's family.  I've only met a few of his cousins but none from his mom's side of the family.  I enjoyed getting to know them all and spend time.  One of Sage's cousins has 4 beautiful kids and Ane loved their company.  It was wonderful seeing their family all together to celebrate their papa's life and I'm thankful to now be apart of their families legacy.

4/13/13 - We went to the swap meet early Saturday morning.  It's always nice to go there and get some fun stuff for cheap.  We didn't end up getting too much, just a few things but nothing exciting.
We did so much during our trip that I honestly can't remember much of this day other than it was the day Sage received awesome news that he was accepted into the City of Las Vegas Corrections Academy.  I am so incredibly proud of him!  He had to leave early unexpectedly, which did put a bit of damper on the trip but it was for a great reason.

4/14/13 - Sage's family went on their hunt to spread his papa's ashes on this day.  Ane and I stayed at Sage's uncles house and slept in which was much needed because we both were wearing thin energy wise.  She and I just relaxed at the house and fed the fish out of the dock in the backyard.  She learned to say "fishy" while feeding the fish which was so exciting.  She's growing so quickly and learning to say more words.

When they returned from their hike we had dinner and I tried to spend as much time as possible with Sage because he was leaving that night around 8pm.  When we dropped him off I did cry, I know, I'm lame.  We haven't been apart for more than 4 days and that was back in 2011 when I was pregnant with Ane, since then we've always gone everywhere with each other.  I seriously missed him terribly and we were only apart for 5 days.  I admire wives who spend weeks, months and years away from their husbands.  I know I wouldn't be able to do it. The picture below is of Ane and I on the dock feeding the fish.

4/15/13 - We went to the Ala Moana mall and did a little bit of shopping.  That mall is huge and had 4 levels so we spent quite sometime there.  We went to the Disney store in hopes to get a Lilo doll but they were all out.  Throughout our trip we tried to locate a Lilo doll but failed to find one.  You'd think that since we were in Hawaii it would be easy.  Below is my princess & I at the Disney store.

4/16/13 - We spent this day relaxing in the house.  We did swim a little which Ane loved.  She doesn't love the ocean but she loves the bath and swimming pools, interesting.  She also said another new word while in the pool... "Oh wow!"  She is now saying this word very often lol.  We went out last night to Pure Aloha and she kept saying "Wow!" to everything.  I love it.  We also went out on Sage's uncles boat and fed the fish.  I'm sure those fish are going miss us because we sure did feed them well.

4/17/13 - We went to the Honolulu Zoo on this day and Ane loved it.  She laughed while watching the monkeys swing, she was in awe of the elephant and she liked seeing the lion cubs as well.  I loved seeing the chimpanzees.  They would come right up to the glass and just sit.  I kind of felt bad for them though, haha, but seriously, I did.

4/18/13 - It was our last day there and we wanted to take Ane to the Disney's Aulani Resort.  It was immaculate and so beautiful there.  I told Sage that when we have more babies and they're older we should stay there a night or two.  They have so much to do there and it's so family orientated.  They have multiple pools and a lazy river, slides that you can ride with tubes, a snorkel reef with a ton of fish, etc.  Ane was a little under the weather this day and she was miserable most of our time there.  She hated the water at the lagoon that we were swimming in and she wouldn't even sit in the sand.  She and I spent most of our time in the shade and she insisted on sitting in her stroller as well.  She wasn't willing to eat or drink and I knew she wasn't feeling good at all.  Poor baby.  On our way out we got to see Minnie and even though Ane wasn't feeling well, as soon as she saw Minnie she was all smiles.  She kept petting her while we were taking pictures with her, it so precious seeing her reactions.  Ane is a huge Disney fanatic, anything Disney, she loves.  I look forward to taking her to Disney land when she's old enough.  Below is a picture of her sitting in the sand and playing with her toys at the lagoon and us with Minnie.

Even though Sage had to leave early I did enjoy our trip to Hawaii and look forward to going back in a few years.  We are blessed to be able to take such an amazing trip and share it with our little girl.  I am also so thankful for Sage's new job which is a HUGE blessing, it's exactly where he wants to be and I look forward to what's to come for us.  I'm grateful for all of the many blessings that the Lord continues to provide my family. xo.

With Love,
The Nua's
